The baked sour cream donuts are healthier than the deep fried donuts and even more delicious. Have these donuts in the breakfast with a cold glass of milk. You can easily make these donuts at home with this recipe and you do not have to rush to the donut shop early in the morning.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup full fat sour cream
- 1 large egg room temperature
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1-2 tablespoons milk optional
For The Glaze:
- 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
How to make sour cream donuts
Preheat the oven at 350F. Grease the donut pan with oil.
Combine full fat sour cream, 1 large egg, vanilla extract, vegetable oil and sugar in a bowl and whisk.
Add all purpose flour, baking soda, cinnamon powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Mix them until well incorporated.You can add 1-2 tablespoons of milk if the batter is too thick.
Spread the batter into the donut cavities with the help of a spoon. Do not fill the donut cavities up to full. With this batter you will be able to make 8 donuts.
Bake for 15 minutes until the donuts are golden brown. Remove from oven and allow them to cool for 10 to 15 minutes in pan. Then remove the donuts from pan.
For the glaze: combine all the ingredients in a bowl and dip the donuts in this mixture to cover them completely.
These donuts can be stored for 3 to 4 days in the fridge in an airtight container.
