Battered French Fries Recipe

Battered French fries served with garlic dip are the most amazing appetizer for me on the entire food planet. These battered French fries get ready easily in a few steps and will taste exactly like the restaurant ones.

You can even use these fries to be stuffed in your burgers and can be served as sides to make your dishes taste better like rice and kinds of pasta. These battered French fries are a loved treat for all the children so you should be an expert in it for them at least.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 2 1/2 pounds of russet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon onion salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water just as needed
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Method to make the Battered French Fries

  1. Bring your potatoes to wash them and peel off them. Once done slice the potatoes into long finger-like sizes just like the size and shape of French fries.
  2. Once all potatoes are sliced, fill a large-sized bowl with really cold water and add all the diced potatoes into this bowl.
  3. Let them stand in the water for quite some time.
  4. Put a saucepan on the stovetop. You can either use a frying skillet and fill it with oil for deep frying.
  5. Start heating up this oil on medium flame. Wait for it to get enough hot.
  6. In the meantime, take a bowl and add all-purpose flour into this bowl. Bring some garlic salt and combine it with this flour. Add the onion salt at the same time.
  7. Sprinkle paprika or black pepper and salt over the mixture. Use a spoon to stir this dry mixture.
  8. To turn this batter into a slurry you must add some water but don’t make it too much runny. Just maintain the required consistency of your batter.
  9. Now move back to your dipped fried, drain the excess and wastewater, and then use the paper towels to fry the potato wedges.
  10. Then add the sliced potato wedge into the prepared batter one by one to coat them all with this amazing batter.
  11. Then put the batter-coated fries in the hot oil and get them fried. Make sure they are crispy enough when you get them out of the oil.
  12. Use the tissues to absorb the excess oil and then serve your fries with your favorite dips.

FAQs?

Cannot we bake these battered fries?

Yes sure, you can bake the coated potato fries but baking will not turn them into crispy ones. To get the crispy fries, you must fry them.

Why my fries do not get crispy?

Your fries may not get crispy because of the moisture left on the edges. You must dry them properly before coating and frying.
