Chana chaat is a tasty and easy specie of chaat or salad with no list of fancy ingredients. The only special ingredient used in the recipe is lemon juice and Kala namak. These two ingredients give such a nice flavor to your chaat that cannot be replaced by any other dry or wet spice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups Dry green grams (Hara channa)
  • 2 medium-sized onions, chopped
  • 2 medium-sized tomatoes, chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves
  • Black salt (kala namak) to taste
  • 1 tbsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tbsp red chili powder
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  1. First of all, you have to soak the channa (green grams) overnight in water.
  2. Then, pressure the soaked grams in the pressure cooker in 3-4 cups of water for 5-6 whistles.
  3. After you drain out the grams from the pressure cooker cook them in a separate saute pan so that all the rest of the water and moisture evaporates.
  4. After cooking, pour these grams into a bowl.
  5. Chop the veggies including onions and tomatoes thinly or in cubes.
  6. Mix the chopped veggies in the bowl with the cooked channa. Stir well.
  7. Don’t forget to combine the coriander leaves and the chopped green chilies with the rest of the mixture.
  8. Then to add relish and flavor to your mixture you have to add all the spices in it.
  9. Shower the red chili powder, Kala namak, roasted cumin powder, and chaat masala.
