  • 1/4 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/4 tablespoon salt
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, at room temperature
  • 1 cup butter at room temperature

Instructions to make Cheese Straws

  1. To prepare the mixture, add flour and mix cayenne pepper with it. Also, add salt to it.
  2. Then make a smooth cream by beating the butter with cheese and making sure that both of them get well blended.
  3. In this beaten butter and cheese smoothie, add the flour mixture slowly and mix at a slow speed.
  4. Bring this prepared dough near you and make long straws called cheese straws.
  5. Put the straws one by one on the baking sheet which you have greased using butter or simply spraying the nonstick spray.
  6. Put the baking dish in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes in the preheated oven at the standard temperature of 350 degrees.
  7. Remove from oven and wait until cooled.

Cheese straws will taste good for about one week. They will stay fresh during these days and you can have them any time. But throw them out of the stored can after one week as these will be spoiled.

Can we refrigerate the cheese straws?

There is no need to refrigerate the cheese straws. You can simply store them in an air-tight vessel or container and they will be good for 7 days at least. Do not refrigerate.
