The Chew Biscuits and Gravy Recipe

Golden biscuits dipped in rich, creamy gravy is a supremely comforting meal for the whole cousin’s gang at my place. We always make it whenever we have a get-together or some night plans at each other’s place.

Flay biscuits are baked in the gravy that is made out of the cooked sausage and the rest of the sides and seasonings. The meal is perfect for a good brunch. The delightful meal is so deserving to be made in your Kitchen at dinners and there is a chance that it’s going to be your next favorite.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 tablespoon flour
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small-sized onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • 2 2/3 cups of milk
  • 1/2 lb ground sausage
  • 1 can of large, flaky biscuits
  • 1/4 cup freshly chopped parsley
  • 2 2/3 cups of milk
  • Kosher coarse salt
  • Freshly grounded black pepper

Method to make The amazing Chew biscuits with Gravy

  1. Put the rack in the middle of the oven and preheat it. The temperature for the purpose is 375 degrees.
  2. On medium heat, after heating the olive oil in a large-sized skillet stir fry the onion and garlic. Once the mixture gives a good fragrance and the onions are transparent, add the sausage to it.
  3. The sausage should be well crumbled with the onion-garlic paste and in the olive oil.
  4. To make the gravy, take another larger pot and combine the cooked sausage with the flour in it. Stir to incorporate and pour milk into it.
  5. To season it up, add the salt and black pepper.
  6. Thicken your sauce by simmering at low heat and once you get the required consistency you must turn the heat off to prevent it from drying out. Add parsley to top it.
  7. To bake the biscuits, firstly dice the biscuits in halves or quarters. Then put these chopped biscuits in a prepared baking pan.
  8. Bake the biscuits in the oven for 10-15 minutes and they will ultimately get fluffy and brown.
  9. Now on these baked biscuits, pour the sausage or gravy on these fluffy biscuits. Use a foil to cover from the top and bake for 15 minutes.
  10. Then bake for another 10 minutes while uncovered. Your chew biscuits with the gravy are ready to serve.

FAQs?

Is it necessary to bake uncovered in the end?

Yes, uncovered baking lets your casserole get a little crispy and brown from the top.  Otherwise, it will get soggy so you just have to bake it uncovered.

Why do we add flour to the sausage?

To make a sauce or gravy of the cooked sausage, we add flour and milk to the sausage which then simmers with each other to make a thick sauce-like gravy which is then poured on the biscuits.
