Sita Ram Diwan Chand Chole Bhature Recipe

A hugely popular dish of Northern parts of India, Delhi, and Mumbai is Chole Bhature. This dish is generally served as a breakfast. Chole Bhature is a combination of chickpeas in curry and puffy bread. Chole is made of Kabuli chana dipped overnight in water.

Sita Ram Divan Chand is famous for its Chole Bhature that has a melt in mouth texture and is extremely delicious. A perfect meal for the day! It fills up your stomach to the core and there is no need to have anything additional on your menu. This dish is a perfect example of a heart mix of tomatoes and onions.

Chole Bhature is a Punjabi delicacy with mixed Indian spices. Due to its richness in taste, this recipe of Chole bhature has earned fame in the whole world.

INGREDIENTS

For Chole

  • 2 cup Kabuli Chana
  • 2 bags of good quality tea powder
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp Amchur powder
  • 1 tbsp chole masala with anaar dana
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Cardamoms and cinnamon sticks
  • 3-4 Garlic cloves
  • 1 medium-sized chopped onion
  • 4 pureed Tomato
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 3 cups of water
  • Few garlic green leaves and coriander leaves
  • 1 1/2 tbsp baking soda
  • Salt to taste
  • Cooking oil and ghee

For Bhature

  • 1 cup Maida (all-purpose flour)
  • Use suji rawa
  • 1 cup curd
  • Salt to taste
  • Cooking oil

Method to make Sita Ram Diwan Chand Chole

  1. At first, drain and wash the overnight soaked chana.
  2. In a pressure cooker, add the chana, salt, and tea powder bags, and baking soda.
  3. Close the lid after pouring water into the cooker. Cook over medium flame and wait for the whistles.
  4. To make the dough for bhature, in a medium bowl add one cup of maida mixed with salt, suji Rawa and curd. Whisk well. Also, add cooking oil to it.
  5. Pour in some water to make the dough soft and then knead the dough.
  6. Add more water and flour as needed and also grease the dough once again with oil. Let it sit for a few minutes.
  7. Now for making chole, heat oil in a pan at low heat. Then add the spices including cinnamon sticks, cardamom, and garlic cloves.
  8. Fry for a few minutes and then add onions and tomatoes. Saute them for a few minutes after adding ginger garlic paste.
  9. Put in the tomato puree and add all the spices.
  10. Cook for a few minutes and then add water. Let it simmer for a few minutes.
  11. At the next step, add boiled channa to the cooked curry and mix. Add salt per taste and throw coriander leaves.
  12. Cook for 2 more minutes to give it the perfect consistency and sprinkle some crushed garlic green leaves.
  13. Now for tadka, in a pan heat oil and add chopped green chilies and ginger in it. Add red chili powder. Mix and pour it over the channa curry.
  14. After making balls from the dough, roll the dough balls with a rolling pin after greasing them with oil.
  15. Throw the gol roti-shaped bhature into the hot oil.
  16. Bhature rises and gets puffy. Flip it to the other side and let it golden browned.
  17. Remove it from the oil and drain.
  18. Serve hot with Chole and green chutney.

Is chole bhature unhealthy?

We can say so because the dish is too oily and as we know too much oil is not good for health. You cannot have it regularly but occasionally.
