  • 6-8 Drumsticks
  • 1/2 cup green gram dal
  • 1/2 tsp crushed peppercorns
  • 1 tsp crushed cumin seeds
  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 green minced and crushed green chili
  • 1/2 cup thick coconut milk
  • 1 bay leaf
  • A few coriander leaves to garnish
  • A few curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

How to make Mouthwatering Drumstick soup in Indian Style?

  1. Initially, chop the drumsticks into small pieces (at least 3-inch pieces) and soak them in water by covering them.
  2. Cook after adding a little amount of salt. Make sure that they get soft.
  3. Reserve the cooking liquid and also make the drumsticks to air cool.
  4. To go on further, cook the green gram dal in the same reserved drumstick liquid. You can add more water if required.
  5. Then mash this cooked dal.
  6. In a deep pan, heat the oil and add the cumin and pepper. After some time add the bay leaves and curry leaves and then onion after them. Fry until the mixture especially the onions is browned.
  7. In the next step put in the ginger garlic paste. Fry well. Also, add tomato puree followed by green chili.
  8. In the end add dal, drumstick pulp, and salt.
  9. Add the coconut milk to maintain the consistency, a thin cream-like.
  10. Cook for 5-8 more minutes. Garnish your soup with coriander leaves.
