  • 3/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 tablespoon unsalted butter (should be cold)
  • 3/4 tablespoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 cups vegetable oil

Steps to make Gluten-Free Fried Dough

  1. To prepare the mixture combine the flour with salt followed by baking powder.
  2. Bring a hand blender or a pastry blender and blend the butter in this mixture. Even you can use your clean hands for performing this action.
  3. Add the lukewarm water into the batter until a soft dough-like mixture is obtained. Knead the dough and let stand for 10-15 minutes while covered from the top.
  4. Once done, slice the prepared dough into 8 slices and roll each slice into a thick round shape. (about 3/8 thick).
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan at medium heat. Put one dough disk in the oil and cook for one minute. In the meantime, it will come to the top and then flip to cook from another side.
  6. Take out the oil and drain the excess oil on tissues or paper towels. Repeat the process with all the dough disks.
  7. It is served warm with suitable toppings like confectioners sugar or maple syrup.
