  • 2 cups coconut milk

  • 1/4 tbsp green cardamom powder

  1. The basic step is to wash and then soak the rice in enough water for 15-20 minutes at least.
  2. Set the milk to be heated at medium flame until it gets to a boil.
  3. Add sugar to the cooked milk and stir well until well combined. All of the sugar should be melted in the milk. You can also use sugar powder for even better results.
  4. Then in the next step, add the drained basmati rice to this simmering milk. Cook until the rice is tenderized.
  5. The time it takes to get thick will be 25-30 minutes. Nit more than that.
  6. Stir in the cardamom powder and cook.
  7. You can also add half a tablespoon of rose water at this point for a good aroma and flavor.
  8. Cook until a thick consistency with a creamy white texture is attained. Turn the heat off. Wait until cool.
  9. Ladle your rice kheer in the serving bowl and garnish from the top with crushed almonds and pistachios.
