Luby’s Liver and Onions Recipe

Luby’s Liver and Onions are usually served as a main course dish in Southern and Texan cuisine and they both complement each other in a beautiful way and combine to give a wonderful flavor.

I was first introduced to this Luby’s liver and onions dish at a Texan restaurant and then I thought why not make such a fine dish at home? So I went for it and I couldn’t be more proud that I made it. Luby’s Liver and Onions is a must-have on your dinner table once in a while.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cups bread crumbs
  • 2-pound pounds of beef liver, diced
  • Black pepper taste
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large-sized yellow onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 large-sized egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Method to make Luby’s Liver and Onions Recipe

  1. Bring a large-sized mixing bowl and put the beef liver in this bowl. Pour water into the bowl that the meat is completely dipped in it and left it for a maximum of 20 minutes.
  2. Take a large-sized heavy-bottomed nonstick skillet, and pour butter in it. Make sure to melt this butter at lowered heat.
  3. In the melted butter add the onions for the purpose of frying it. Once onions are fried and get a good brown color, remove the mixture from the skillet. Let the air cool and mix salt into it.
  4. Grab another mixing bowl and pour milk into it. Break eggs in this milk and blend using the hand whisk.
  5. On a separate plate, bring the bread crumbs near you.
  6. Drain the water and wash the meat with fresh tap water, After cleaning it, use paper towels and make sure to dry your meat.
  7. Then place in the bowl and sprinkle salt and pepper over the liver on all sides.
  8. Bring and then put it in the milk and egg mixture. After coating well, coat it with the bread crumbs.
  9. Then bring your frying skillet and start heating oil at low heat. Add the coated beef liver to the oil and sear each side for a few minutes.
  10. Put the cooked liver beef on the serving plate and then garnish with the fried onion to make it worth serving.
