Homemade Mexican Taco Sauce Recipe

Homemade Mexican Taco Sauce is easy to make with tomato sauce and spices that are commonly used in Mexican sauces and many other recipes as well. This sauce taste so good on ground beef stuffed tacos, topped with shredded cheese, lettuce, and tomato slices.

Tomato sauce is being used in this recipe, but you can use tomato puree with vinegar, sugar, and dried spices. The ancho chili powder is made from poblano peppers that give a smoky flavor to the taco sauce and brownish-red color.

  • 2 teaspoons lime juice

How to make Mexican taco sauce

Add water to a saucepan with all the ingredients, except lime juice.

Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat and cook for 10 minutes. Simmer and stir the sauce occasionally.

Remove from heat and pour the lime juice. Mix well and let the sauce cool completely.

Transfer the sauce to an airtight container/jar and store it in the refrigerator.

Use this Mexican taco sauce within 2-3 weeks.
