For Grits
- 2 cups water
- 3 cups of fresh milk
- 3-4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 cup Quick Grits
- Salt to taste
Method to make Pappadeaux Shrimp ad Grits
- In a large skillet fry the bacon slices for a few minutes to make them crispy and it will turn brown by the end of the cooking.
- Keep 2-3 tablespoons of bacon in the pan, and shift the rest on a side plate.
- In this pan, drop a little quantity of oil and then add shrimp into it. Stir fry for a few minutes and sprinkle Cajun salt over it.
- In the sauteed shrimp, you have to add the remaining seasonings like green onions, parsley, and bell pepper. Make sure you have added the minced garlic and paprika to it.
- In the seasoned shrimp and bacon, pour the broth and sizzle for a few minutes.
- Add some lemon in the end and add the crispy bacon at the top.
For Preparing Grits
- Take a heavy bottom pot and add water and milk to it. Throw the bay leaf and salt into it. Bring it to a boil.
- After boiling add the grits and keep stirring constantly to avoid the clump formation in it.
- Once the grits get cooked, simmer to dissolve all the remaining water. A Cook of 15 minutes would be required to get a thickened grits mixture.
- Turn off the flame and add cheese and butter to it. Melt the cheese.
- Make a layer of grits in a bowl and at the top make the layer of the Cajun shrimp along with the sauce.
