Pioneer Woman’s Vanilla Ice Cream

One of the classic flavors of ice cream, to be enjoyed in its natural state or to be used as a base for the preparation of delicious fruit ice creams or other ingredients of your taste (chopped pistachio, powdered chocolate, etc.), just add fruit to taste (strawberries, peaches, bananas, etc.) pureed with basic ingredients, and that’s it!

Please note that this recipe is inspired by Pioneer Woman’s Vanilla ice cream recipe with little variations.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Vanilla Bean, Split and Scraped
  • 3 cups Half-and-half
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 8 Large Egg Yolks
  • 3 cups Heavy Cream

Preparation

  1. Put half-and-half and sugar in a saucepan and cook over low heat. Add vanilla bean extract to the mixture. Turn off heat when the mixture is completely heated. (If you have used the vanilla pod, remove it);
  2. Beat egg yolks with the electric mixer or with hand until it turns pale yellow. Add slowly 1 1/2 cups of hot half-and-half mixture, whisking constantly.
  3. Now add egg mixture to the saucepan containing the half-and-half mixture. Cook over low-medium heat until gets thicker. Then pour it into the heavy cream bowl. Stir to combine.
  4. Let it cool, and then freeze in an ice cream maker until thick. Place the container in the freezer for 6 to 8 hours until gets harder.

Serve it with chocolate, biscuits, and waffles. Enjoy!

How to use Ice Cream Maker

Proceed to the preparation of the ice cream following the instructions of your ice cream maker or, failing that, place it in the freezer and stir every fifteen minutes, with a wooden spoon, until it begins to thicken and it will no longer be possible to work it.

Ice cream maker procedure: pour the previously prepared mixture into the bowl of the ice cream maker with the blades already in motion and let it mix for about twenty / twenty-five minutes at low speed; after which, you can immediately serve your ice cream, but, if you want a firmer consistency, transfer to an airtight container and place in the freezer until ready for consumption.

Serve your vanilla ice cream, distributing it in individual cups and decorating it with cigarettes/biscuits and various waffles.
