Progresso recipe starter fire-roasted cooking sauce is the result of such addition in recipes. This is an Italian sauce that boosts up the flavor of your food including pasta, macaroni, or other dishes.

  • 3 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 4-6 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
  • 1 shallot, diced
  • 3 lbs ripe tomatoes, cut into half
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp dried Italian seasonings
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
  • 3-4 green chilies
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar

How to make Fire Roasted Tomato Sauce

  1. After you preheat your oven at moderate temperature, t your baking dish with olive oil.
  2. Shower the dish with garlic and shallot.
  3. Place the diced or sliced tomatoes in this lubricated baking dish and roast it.
  4. Roast for 25-30 minutes.
  5. Then take it out, sprinkle oregano and basil, and then again put it in the oven to be roasted for a few more minutes.
  6. Make sure that skin of tomatoes has lifted off.
  7. After removing the skin of the tomatoes., take a bowl and add the whole mixture including pulp, and juice it.
  8. Mash properly with the fork or spoon. You can also use a tomato masher.
  9. Season the mashed mixture with salt and pepper. To add some flavor to the sauce I usually add a little sugar in it. But the step is completely optional and you can skip it If you want to.
  10. To make your sauce fiery you can make use of green chilies chopped and sprinkled while roasting your tomatoes.

You should freeze it in an air-tight one. The lid and the jar should be clean enough. While filling the jar with sauce left some space in the jar and do not overfill it. This is because the sauce expands while freezing and so it will have some room for the purpose.
