Sara Lee Banana Cake Recipe

This is the simplest and easiest banana cake recipe ever! The cake is moist, soft, and the cream cheese topping is super delicious. The ingredients are simple and easy to find in your kitchen.

The cake is loaded with bananas and the best part is the thick layer of cream cheese frosting on top of the cake. You can top the cake with crushed dried fruits and nuts if you like. You must chill the cake for few hours before serving.

Ingredients

  • 3 bananas mashed
  • ½ cup salted butter melted
  • 1 ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ¼ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp sea salt

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • 2 ¼ to 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract

How to make banana cake

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease a 9×13-inch pan.

Mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and sea salt in a bowl and set aside.

Add mashed bananas, vanilla and melted butter in a large bowl. Mix until combined. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Then, add eggs and sour cream and mix until combine. Add milk and gently mix.

Now, add all the dry ingredients and mix until the mixture is uniform.

Pour batter into the pan. Bake it for 35 to 40 minutes. Or until the toothpick comes out clean.

Let the cake cool for few minutes.

For frosting: beat 4 oz cream cheese and ½ cup butter until smooth and creamy. Add vanilla and 2 cups of powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Add ½ cup more of sugar and beat until you get the spreadable consistency.

Spread the cream cheese frosting on top of the cake and let it chill for at least 3 hours. Then serve and enjoy!
