Whole Hog Potato Salad Recipe

Whole Hog Potato Salad is a winner of all the other potato and vegetable salads as it is made with a long list of seasonings that provides a heavenly flavor to your already amazing salad.

Potatoes should be boiled to a beautiful tenderized texture. You can either boil them before slicing or boil them after slicing it doesn’t make a big difference. But I mostly prefer slicing them before boiling as it is easier to handle them. The addition of mayo and sugar turns it into a creamy and sweetish one.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon parsley
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1.75 lb red potatoes
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup chives
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon dry ranch dressing mix
  • 1 cup cooked bacon crumbles (optional)

Instructions to Make Whole Hog Potato Salad Recipe

  1. In the beginning, prepare the potatoes for the rest of the purpose. Wash and clean the potatoes. Then pat dry them and dice them after peeling these potatoes.
  2. Take a large-sized pot and fill it with water.
  3. Once the water gets boiled at high heat, add the diced potatoes to it. You need to tenderize the potatoes and you can check if they are done with a knife or a fork.
  4. Once your potatoes are boiled, transfer them into a bowl.
  5. It’s time to add the remaining ingredients. In this bowl add the chives and crumbled bacon. Adding flavors to the salads is my favorite part of the recipes.
  6. Add black pepper, and salt, pour some vinegar, and also add the sour cream into it. The addition of sugar, garlic powder, and parsley is a plus point of this salad.
  7. Mix using the spatula so that everything is well merged. Also, sprinkle a few of the chives and bacon at the top for dressing.
  8. Before serving, refrigerate the potato salad for some time and then serve in your serving bowl.

Potatoes will release water if they are warm or when salt is added to them. So, make a salad when the potatoes are cooled down and add the salad exactly in the end.
