Shahi Matar Paneer Recipe

Every time when we are hosting an Indian gathering or a party, the Shahi Matar Paneer is always the highlight of our menu. It could be a traditional or a restaurant-style shahi paneer recipe.

It is a flavorful dish with paneer, matar, butter, yogurt, and Indian spices and is a must at weddings as it is the utmost love of all the Indians belonging to any class. In other words, we can consider this dish as a royal dish as it comes from the Mughal era.

INGREDIENTS

  • 350 grams paneer cubes and fried
  • 1 cup fresh green peas
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 4 tomatoes pureed
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 4 tbsp heavy cream
  • 2 green elaichi
  • 1 tbsp paneer masala
  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves chopped finely
  • 3 tbsp desi ghee or butter
  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tbsp methi leaves
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 2 pinches cinnamon powder
  • 2 tbsp khoya

Process of making Shahi Matar Paneer

  1. Take a blender and make a paste of garlic, onion, elaichi, and cashew nuts.
  2. In a pan add a tbsp of oil and fry the prepared cashew paste in it for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Also, add crushed tomatoes and ginger paste and fry until browned. Add khoya and fry until you don’t have a nice aroma of it.
  4. Now for dry seasonings, add salt, cinnamon powder, turmeric, red chili, coriander powder, and dried methi leaves.
  5. Now add a cup of water with green peas and boil them in the pressure cooker.
  6. Then open the lid and in this mixture make further addition of paneer cubes, paneer masala, and cream. Stir continually and then add a cup of milk.
  7. Cook for some time and then add garam masala.
  8. Turn off the flame and pour your mixture into the serving bowl. Also, throw some coriander leaves.
  9. Serve hot! With Indian chapati, paratha, or naan and It will be the top pick of your guests.
