Eggless Milk Bread Recipe Indian Style

The eggless milk loaf is Indian bakery-style bread.  This sweet milk bread is so comfortable and delicious that you can enjoy in breakfast daily. The homemade bread is satisfying and tastes better than the bread you buy from a bakery.

Proofing the yeast is a tricky part of preparing the dough. The temperature of the water should be correct to make the bread soft and fluffy. Baking time differs from oven to oven, set the temperature accordingly.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour (maida)
  • 2 tbsp Milk powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ cup+2 tbsp Milk (warm)
  • 3 tbsp Castor sugar
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • Some maida for dusting

To proof yeast:

  • 1 1/2 tsp Active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp Sugar

How to make milk bread

Combine yeast and sugar in a bowl. Add warm water, stir once and leave the bowl covered in a warm place for 10-15 minutes.

In a bowl, combine maida, milk powder, castor sugar, and salt. Mix well and add yeast mixture. Stir using a spoon then add warm milk a little at a time.

Mix with your hands to form a sticky dough then add butter and mix until well incorporated.

Dust some maida to a work area and knead the dough for at least 10-15 minutes until smooth dough forms.

Place the dough in a well-greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth and leave it for 1-2 hours until the dough rises.

Place the dough on a work surface to stretch and pull for 5 minutes until smooth. Flatten the dough with a rolling pin and place it in a greased loaf pan. Leave it for 40 minutes until the dough rises.

Smear some butter or milk on the risen dough. Place the pan in the preheated oven at 180 degrees and bake for 40 minutes until done.

The milk bread is ready. Slice and serve.
