Ingredients

3 1/2 cups (up to 4 cups) flour

1 egg

1/2 cup plus 4 tablespoons divided, 1/2 cup melted, plus more for the pan butter

1 (1/4 oz) package yeast

1/2 cup warm water

1 cup divided sugar

1/2 cup scalded milk

1/3 cup melted shortening (or butter)

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

3/4 cup (or walnuts or pecans), optional raisins

2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 to 6 tablespoons hot water

How to make cinnamon rolls

Dissolve yeast in the warm water and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, add milk, ¼ cup sugar, egg, 1/3 cup melted butter or shortening and salt. Then add 2 cups of flour and mix them well until smooth. Add yeast mixture and mix in remaining flour until dough is formed and easy enough to handle.

Knead dough for 5 minutes on a lightly floured surface. Place the dough in a well greased bowl. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise until double. Usually it takes 1 to 2 hours.

After dough doubled, roll out on flour surface into 15×9 inch rectangle. Spread the melted butter on the dough.

Mix ¾ cup sugar and cinnamon together. Sprinkle it over dough. Also, sprinkle the walnuts, pecans or raisins if you like.

From 15 inch side, roll the dough up and seal the edge by pinching. Then cut the dough into 12 to 15 slices.

Grease the baking pan with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar then place cinnamon roll slices in the pan. Leave them as it is for 45 minutes until dough is doubled.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 350 F or until golden brown.

Meanwhile prepare the glaze mixture. Mix 4 tablespoons butter, powdered sugar and vanilla. Add 1 tablespoon of hot water at a time until it reaches the desired consistency.

Once the cinnamon rolls are cooked, remove from oven and let them cool for some time and then spread the glaze mixture over the rolls.

Enjoy! Your delicious cinnamon rolls are ready!
