Ingredients

  • 6 large raw peeled banana/ plantains sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 cups coconut oil for frying
  • 1 tbsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  • Peel the raw bananas and slice them into rounds one by one on the cutting slide.
  • Grease your hands with oil if it gets sticky ad you cannot perform properly.
  • The size of the slice should be neither too thick nor too thin. It should be sliced in medium size.
  • Once you have done cutting the bananas, put them all in a bowl.
  • To start flavoring your bananas, add salt to them. Mix and then add turmeric that will give it a good pop of color.
  • Now to give a good stir to your mixture, pour 4 cups of water in the same bowl.
  • The addition of turmeric has already given a yellow color to the bananas.
  • Mix well and drain all the water.
  • The final step is frying your marinated, sliced bananas.
  • Heat the coconut oil. After it gets hot enough, deep fry your chopped bananas to turn them into banana chips. Fry on a medium flame.
  • Give a stir to them occasionally so that they will not stick together otherwise your banana chips will become a mess.
  • Fry for 10-15 minutes until the chips get crunchy and crispy and change their color.
  • Put them in the dish on the kitchen paper to drain the extra oil. So that they will be less greasy and easy to handle.
  • Finally, your amazing banana chips are ready and you can enjoy them any time of the day up to one month as the storage period of these chips is one month.
