Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon celery seed
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon pepper
  • 1/8 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup butter

Instructions

  • Take a medium-sized mixing bowl that is washed and cleaned.
  • In this bowl, add the cornstarch and then pour a little water into it. Stir both of them and make a slurry having a smooth texture.
  • Bring a non-stick saucepan and pour the water and cornstarch mixture into it.
  • Keep the flame medium and heat up the mixture. While cooking, continue stirring for some time and then you have to add the other dressing ingredients.
  • Firstly add the celery seeds and then you must stir the onion powder into this mixture. You must give a good stir to your mixture at this point.
  • Then add some water and pour the apple cider vinegar into it.
  • Sprinkle some salt and pepper into the mixture and then stir in the butter. In the end stir the sugar, into the cooking sauce.
  • Stir well.
  • Simmer for some time and once you acquired the required texture of the dressing, you must turn off the heat and let the mixture air cool.
  • Use in recipes or serve as a dip after refrigeration.

For Catalina Colonial

  • You must add the ketchup to the mixture and also add the sweet pickle relish to prepare this version of the dressing.

For Creamy Colonial Dressing

  • The addition of a tablespoon of mustard, a tablespoon of dried oregano leaves, and a tablespoon of corn syrup along with the garlic powder and mayonnaise. Pour some mayonnaise and the creamy colonial dressing is ready.
