Preheat oven at 375F. Line a 9-inch baking cake pan with parchment paper and butter the sides and bottom. Sprinkle some sugar on the sides and bottom of the pan.
Add butter and sugar to the bowl of a stand mixer and beatuntil fluffy. Add the flour and baking powder gradually and mix until it is well combined.
Add eggs one by one and beat again. Add vanilla, almond extract, and buttermilk and beat until the batter is light and fluffy.
Transfer the batter to the cake pan. Bake for 50 minutes until the cake is golden brown.
Let the cake cool for 5 minutes. Then remove it from pan and place it on the cooling rack.
Serve this delicious butter cake with vanilla ice cream.
