Fazoli’s Breadsticks Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ teaspoons of active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups of warm water
  • 4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup of unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • ½ cup of unsalted butter for brushing
  • ½ teaspoon of salt for finishing
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder for finishing
  • 1 tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese for finishing

Instructions

Activate the Yeast

  • In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.

Prepare the Dough

  • In a separate bowl, combine flour and salt.
  • Gradually add the yeast mixture and melted butter to the flour mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.

Let It Rise

  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until it's doubled in size.

Shape the Breadsticks

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll them into breadstick shapes.
  • Place them on a baking sheet.

Bake

  • Bake the breadsticks for 12-15 minutes, or until they're golden brown.

Garlic Butter Finish

  • In a saucepan, melt the ½ cup of unsalted butter and add garlic powder.
  • Brush the butter mixture over the warm breadsticks.
  • Sprinkle with salt, garlic powder, and grated Parmesan cheese.
