Xanthan Gum Protein Ice Cream Recipe

Xanthan Gum is a popular food additive that’s commonly added to foods as a thicker or stabilizer a vegan alternative to gelatin. It’s created when the sugar is fermented by bacteria called “Xanthomonas campestris”. It is having a lot of health benefits including a subsequent decrease in blood cholesterol.

As it gives a feeling of fullness so is beneficial in losing weight. Xanthan helps get rid of constipation, is helpful for people with neurological problems who cannot drink the liquid, and works as a saliva substitute for people who have dry mouths.

Xanthan is used in making a very popular ice cream recipe that will become your favorite if you are a protein shake or smoothie lover. It gives ice cream a smoother texture and prevents items from separating. Made with a few simple ingredients, it’s a healthy and delicious way to enjoy your ice cream while simultaneously reaching one’s goals.

Ingredients

  • Xanthan gum: One can get it easily from any baking or health-food aisle in nearby supermarkets.
  • Milk: Unsweetened vanilla almond milk is best in this recipe, but other types like dairy, coconut, or oat milk can also be used.
  • Frozen fruit: Any type of frozen fruit, like strawberries, blueberries, mangoes, bananas, or cherries, can be used. I preferred using mixed berries.
  • Protein powder: One can use any flavored collagen powder. I used strawberry flavor as it’s my favorite. It mixes well with other ingredients. If one has an allergy to dairy, plant-based protein powders can too be used.
